The JOGLO is built on a rectangular base, sometimes square.
This base is a little higher so as to form a drainage around the building.
4 pillars support the main structure of the roof.
These pillars are the center of the building: they are the SOKO GURU or MASTER.
12 poles around these pillars of the center come to support the other part of the roof: it is the SOKO ROWO or DISCIPLE OF THE MASTER.
Joglos were the property of important people in towns and villages
The 4 main pillars or SOKO GURU are mounted on supports (clogs) called UMPAK which can be 60 cm high
Joglos were built for people of great social importance.
For example, the Sultan of YOJAKARTA possessed one of which the diameters of the pillars were 30 cm.
People could only have one with an equal or greater diameter.
25 cm was the dimension for people of less importance
18 or 19 cm was the norm.
We recover the wood structure of these JOGLO (pillars, ceiling beams, facades and richly decorated doors) and we build villas in the traditional style or mixing traditional and modern.
